One Month!

Dominic and Gavin made it through their first month. We made it too, barely, with lots of help. We are so happy to have these healthy babies, but it was honestly the hardest month ever! It turns out that taking care of two infants at once is no easy task, with the feeding schedules, the endless diaper changing, the crying (me and the babies), and no sleep at all. And to add to the fun experience, our shower pipes broke and our fridge died in the same week. I also got a stomach bug that ended my 15-year no-barf record.

There is no way we would have survived without my mom and Chris's parents, who paid good money for airline tickets to New York to help us through the chaos. Also, friends from our ward and neighborhood brought many dinners, helped set up nursery furniture, did dishes, cleaned, and helped me feed and burp babies. Friends and family from out of town sent gifts, cards, and flowers. Friends from work sent cards and gifts. I have realized how lucky I am to have such wonderful friends and family. Thanks, everyone! We seriously could not have done it without you.

Chris all suited up and ready to go!

Nurse Jackie and the intern with the new babies.

Gavin's first bath...and the first picture we managed to take after we took them home.
Dominic's all clean!

Gavin at about 2 weeks.

Dominic at 2 weeks.

Our first walk in the neighborhood with the double stroller.
A very familiar sight. Dominic is a good burper...wish I could say the same about Gavin.

Gavin's got a mighty loud scream.
Dominic has more of a wail.

Thanks for taking care of the babies, Grandma Lindsay! She's the only grandparent we thought to take a picture of.

When the babies aren't drinking their milk, they are trying to eat each other.
Hanging out on their huge nursing pillow.

A sight we'd like to see much more often.
